    August 26th 2002

The Mariners take a rest today, and battle the Minnesota Twins tomorrow for a 3 game series. It has been a disappointing road trip for the Ms recently and they have fallen behind the Oakland As by 2.5 games in the AL West. The Athletics have been on a very hot streak recently and have won 13 games in a row! On Sunday, Freddy Garcia had a solid outing and the Mariners ousted the Indians 12-4. Ichiro, Boone and Davis had a great night too, and wish the Ms lots of luck in the remaining games of the season! But this all depends whether there will be a strike on August 30th!

  August 23rd 2002

The Mariners tried very hard to extend their winning streak today, but the bullpen let Seattle down as they lost 4-2 in the opening game of the series. Joel Pineiro pitched an excellent game, without allowing any runs, but received a no-decision! Credit should also be given to Sabathia too, the starting pitcher for the Indians, as he didn't allow a run too! There was a rain delay for about 2 hours, and after the break, Ichiro hit a triple and later scored! Baldwin gave up a walk-off home run and got the loss in tonight's game! A very disappointing result indeed, as they are now one game behind the red hot Oakland A's!

   August 20th 2002

Wow, this is the tightest the AL West can get, 3 teams are tied for the 1st place! Today, Oakland became the winners, and Seattle and Anaheim the losers! Freddy Garcia once again struggled and the Tigers hit 3 long balls to defeat the Mariners 6-3. Although Ichiro was hitless tonight, he made an excellent defensive play, robbing a base hit off Randall Simon in the 1st inning. Tomorrow, Valdes (the newest member of the Mariners) will be pitching, and hope he can lead the Ms to victory. Go Mariners!

   August 19th 2002

Every Mariner fan should be disappointed by today's performance against the Tigers, as they lost 4-3 to Detroit. This was a game the Ms should have won, as they stranded 11, and had so many opportunities to score runs. Lou Pinella was extremely angry, and this should be a wake-up call for all the players. Jaime Moyer lost his 2nd consecutive game for the first time this season as he surrendered 4 runs in the 4th inning, which was caused by a Ruben Sierra fielding error. Although Ichiro had an RBI single in the 9th, it was too late, and he was also caught stealing in the 5th, which was a very important inning. Overall, I was very disappointed by their performance, and this was a main reason why i did not update the site recently, since the Mariners are losing too much. Now they are tied with the Angels for the 1st place in the AL West, and they could easily drop to the 3rd place as Oakland is only 1 game behind! Good luck Seattle, this is all I can say!

   August 17th 2002

The Mariners lost again to the Yankees today by 8-3, and thanks to the Indians (who beat the Angels), the Mariners maintain a half game lead in the AL West. The pitching of the Ms have continued to struggle and Pineiro will be hoping to turn things around tomorrow against Roger Clemens in the final game of the series! Ichiro went 2 for 4 tonight, and scored 2 runs. Bernie Williams is continuing to threaten Ichiro's batting title, and hope to see him hit well!

    August 13th 2002

Ichiro had 2 hits and 3 RBIs tonight, and led the Mariners to a big victory over the Boston Red Sox by a score of 10-3. The bottom order of the lineup, Dan Wilson and Desi Relaford had a great night too, each having 3 hits, and they were the reason why the team won. Ichiro had a unusual error tonight, when he couldn't find the ball hit by Nixon, and eventually led to a triple. This was Ichiro's 2nd error of the year, and it eventually led to an unearned run. Tomorrow will be an excellent pitcher's duel, Jaime Moyer vs. Derek Lowe, and be sure not to miss it!  Click for new photos!

   August 11th 2002

The Mariners were unable to comeback from a 6-1 deficit and lost to the White Sox 6-5. It was another bad outing for James Baldwin, who only lasted less than 3 innings, surrendering 6 runs. It is likely that he will lose his position in the starting rotation, and he will be replaced by Ryan Franklin, who's done a fantastic job in the bullpen. Ichiro went 1 for 5, and he is still in a slump, dropping his average to .344. There will not be a game tomorrow, and on Tuesday, they will face a tough team, the Boston Red Sox!

   August 10th 2002

The Mariners came from behind and beat the White Sox by 7-3. All seven of their runs came in the last 3 innings, and they sure have lots of team spirit. Ichiro was 1-4 today, and he was hit by a pitch in the last inning. Let's hope everything will be fine for him. It was the bullpen that actually led the M's to victory. Jeff Nelson, Hasegawa and Sasaki did a fine job in relief, not allowing any runs. John Halama, the starting pitcher lasted only 4 innings, and he has been struggling recently! Tomorrow, James Baldwin will pitch for the final game of the series, and after a day of rest, they will be back at Safeco Field, facing the Red Sox and the Yankees.

   August 8th 2002

The Mariners have won two and a row, and they won the series against the Blue Jays. Today, it was a tough game again, in which the Jays threatened to come back in the 8th inning, but they only managed to score 1. The final result was 3-1, and Moyer earned his 12th victory of the season. Jeff Nelson did a great job in relief, and Ichiro went 1 for 5, but he deserved more since he had a couple of line drives. The M's will now fly to Chicago and play a 3 game series with the White Sox. Since the Angels lost two consecutive games, they are now 3.5 games behind Seattle in the AL West.

   August 6th 2002

The Mariners were unable to stop the good pitching of Roy Halladay and the Blue Jays offensive, and they were crushed 14-12 today. Although the Mariners tried to rally back, 10 runs in the last two innings were not enough. But the game was very entertaining and it just showed how weak the Jays bullpen was, surrendering 10 runs. James Baldwin and Ryan Franklin gave up  6 and 7 runs, and the Mariners bullpen was not sharp either. The AL West is very close once again, and the Angels are only trailing them 1.5 games. The Mariners must win the Jays in order to keep their lead, and Joel Pineiro should do the job for us. Ichiro was hitless in today's game, and let's hope to see a good performance from him!

  August 4th 2002

Although the Mariners cam back from a 6 run deficit, the Indians recovered and beat them by 10-8. Sasaki gave up 2 runs in the 9th inning, and it was proved to be costly for the M's. Kazu got his fifth loss of the season and the Mariners weren't able to sweep the Indians, and their six win losing streak snapped! Ichiro swung the bat really well tonight, as he got 3 hits and raised his average back to .350. The Mariners will have a day off tomorrow, and will be starting their road trip against Toronto. James Baldwin will be facing Roy Halladay, the ace of the Blue Jays, in the opening game of the series.

   August 3rd 2002

The Mariners overpowered the Indians today by defeating them 12-4 and they have now won 6 in the row. Freddy picked up his 12th save by going 7 strong innings, and only allowing 4 hits and 2 runs. Almost everyone contributed to the win today, with only Cameron going hitless. Ichiro had 2 hits today, and it seems that his hitting streak is coming back after a huge slump. Tomorrow, John Halama and the M's will be going for their 7th straight win and attempt to sweep the Tigers! Good luck...

   August 2nd 2002

The Mariners won their fifth straight game tonight by defeating the Indians 3-1, and they are now 3 games ahead of the Angels since they lost to the Yankees today. Edgar Martinez and Bret Boone each hit a solo home run, and that was enough to win. Jaime Moyer picked up his 11th win, and the bullpen did a fantastic job, not allowing any runs. Sasaki saved the Mariners in the late innings, and escaped a bases-loaded jam in the 8th inning. Ichiro was 1 for 4 tonight, and has a 2 game hitting streak! Freddy Garcia will be taking the mound for the M's and is hoping to get his first victory in a month!

   July 30th 2002

Ichiro ended his 0 for 16 slump today, his longest in the major leagues, and the Mariners beat the Tigers by a run, 5-4 to recapture their top position in the AL West. I guess we have to thank Pedro Martinez and the Boston Red Sox for this. Mark McLemore got the winning hit by making a suicide squeeze bunt, and this has worked for the 2nd time. A very important victory indeed for the M's and Ben Davis had a great performance tonight, going 3 for 4! James Baldwin will be wrapping up the series tomorrow, and will meet the Cleveland Indians next!

   July 29th 2002

Today, the Mariners came from behind and defeated the Tigers 4-3. It was a very important game since Anaheim is threatening their top position. Unfortunately, the A's won against Boston and are still tied with Seattle. John Olerud hit the game-winning hit, and Sasaki notched his 27th save of the season. Ichiro is still in a slump, going hitless in 3 games, dropping his average to ,352. Freddy Garcia did a pretty good job, enabling the M's to get back into the game!

   July 28th 2002

The excellent pitching of Jaime Moyer was not enough for the Mariners to win, as they were beaten by the Angels in the 9th inning by 1-0. Sasaki unfortunately got the lost today, and the team has dropped to 2nd in the AL West. For the second night in a row, Ichiro was hitless and has only 1 hit in the entire series. After the loss, Ichiro actually blamed himself. For full news, click on the link below!

   Ichiro: my worst game ever

   July 26th 2002

The Angels blanked the Mariners today by a score of 8-0, and both teams are now tied for the lead in the AL West. However, Seattle has dropped to the 2nd place since they have a lower percentage. Today, the Angel's pitching and offense was excellent, and the M's had to lose a tough game. Ichiro only had a hit tonight and couldn't get the Mariners on the scoring board. Tomorrow, Pineiro will be pitching against Washburn, who now has had 12 straight wins. The Mariners have now lost 5 straight games against the Angels!

   July 25th 2002

Ichiro was once again the hero for the Seattle Mariners, as he hit a 3-run homer in the 2nd inning. He led the M's to a 7-2 victory and they were able to maintain the lead in the AL West. Ichiro eventually went 3 for 4 and raised his average to a formidable .363! John Halama pitched very well, and the bullpen was excellent, giving up 0 runs in the entire series. The Angels will be coming to town and this is a very important series. James Baldwin will be starting off for the M's and let's see if the Mariners can stop the red-hot Angels!

   July 24th 2002

Freddy Garcia was not in good form tonight, as he surrendered four runs, and the Mariners eventually lost the ball game 4-3. Dan Wilson's 2 run homer did bring hope to the crowd, but the Texas pitcher Kenny Rogers has been very tough on the M's all season long. He pitched eight solid innings, and I guess the Rangers did deserve this win. Now, the M's are only 1 game ahead of the Angels, and hope they can beat the Rangers tonight and take this series. The next few games will be very tough since the Angels will be coming to Seattle tomorrow, and open up a 3 game series, and it will determine the leader of the AL West .

   July 23rd 2002

Ichiro hit his fifth home run of the season against the Rangers, and led the Mariners to a 4-1 victory. The M's had a shaky start to the game, and their confidence simply wasn't there. However, the bullpen did do an outstanding job, and only gave up a run in the 1st inning. Ichiro was really the only one who did something in the first few inning, going 2 for 2 in his first two at bats.

   July 22nd 2002

It has been a very unlucky series for the Mariners as they had lost for the 2nd straight time after having a 3 or 4 run lead. They also got swept by the Angels and it was the first time in this season. Jeff Nelson gave up two runs in late innings, and that was enough for the Mariner's to lose. Now, they are 1 game ahead of the red-hot angels. After watching this series, I had to admit Anaheim's offense was too good. The Seattle bullpen just couldn't stop the Angels hitting!  They now have a day's rest and will be hosting the Rangers in Safeco Field for a three-game series. Let's hope the M's can sweep the Angels next time, and they will meet again next week!

   July 21st 2002

It was another frustrating game for the Mariners today, as they blew a 5-1 lead and eventually lost to the Angels by a score of 7-6. It seems that the pitchers, who have been playing very well this season are each having their own problems, and Arthur Rhodes gave up 4 runs today (which is very unusual of him). The lead for the M's have shrunk to 2 games in the AL West, and they could lose the lead very soon. Let's hope the Mariners can win a game tomorrow, and boost up their confidence! Ichiro went 1 for 4 in tonight's game!

   July 20th 2002

Today it was a night that the Mariners should forget. The Angels were simply too strong for the reigning AL West leader,  and the final score was 15-3. This was one of the worst defeats for the Ms this season, and hope this will not affect their performance in the next few games! Now, both Oakland and Anaheim are 3 games behind, and it is such a close race this year! Ichiro went 2 for 4, and it was a good performance from him. He now has 40 or more multiple hit games this season, and leads the league in hits and batting average.

   July 18th 2002

Ichiro had a day off today, but he came in the 8th inning onwards, and batted 1-for-2 to help the M's rally to beat the Rangers by a score of 5-3. It was an exciting game where the Mariner's winning run came by a suicide squeeze bunt. In the 9th, Ichiro had an RBI single and this completed the sweep of this 2 game series. Along with the New York Yankees, the M's became the first team in the AL to reach their 60th win this season. Tomorrow, the Mariners will be visiting the Angels, and Freddy will be starting things off!

   July 17th 2002

Jaime Moyer pitched an outstanding game, allowing only 2 runs and four hits, and the M's edged the Rangers by a score of 6-3. Most of the runs from the Mariners were scored in the late innings (3 in the eighth). Ichiro went 1-5, and Kazuhiro Sasaki gave up a home run in the 9th inning, which became a highlight of the game. Tomorrow, James Baldwin will be pitching for the M's and the will be hoping to sweep the Rangers in this 2 game mini series!  The Mariners are also hoping to extend their lead in the AL West since Anaheim is playing Oakland at the same time!

   July 16th 2002

Wow, haven't updated the site for a day, and things have changed a lot for the Mariners. They have now lost 2 straight games, all to the Orioles, and the team took the season series against the M's 5-4. Today, Ichiro had 2 hits, but the M's still lost 6-1. Their lead in the AL West has shrunk to just 3 games. Now, they have to learn from their mistakes, and will be taking on the Texas Rangers for a 2 game-series. Jaime Moyer will be starting things off tomorrow!

   July 14th 2002

Despite Ichiro going hitless in today's game, the M's were able to capture a victory off the Devil Rays, and beat them 7-6. The Mariners were leading 6-2 after the 5th, but Freddy Garcia blew the lead and the game was tied 6-6 after the 6th inning. Thanks to Sierra, who hit a homer in the 8th inning, and Mark Watson claimed his 1st victory in his major league career. Kazu also notched his 23rd save this season, 2nd in the AL League! Tomorrow, the Mariners will be going to Baltimore and Ryan Franklin will be starting the game! The M's now have the beat record in the Major League, tying Atlanta with 58 wins and 24 losses.

   July 13th 2002

It's hard to believe that two Ichiro home runs were not enough for the Mariners to win! It was an unproductive game, where the Mariners were only able to score in three homers. It was the first time in Ichiro's major league career that he hit more than one home run in a game. The first one was a lead-off homer in the 1st inning, and the second one came in the 3rd inning. The M's eventually lost 4-3 in the 10th inning.

M's star has first two-homer game

   July 12th 2002

It was a very close game today, where the Mariners eventually managed to win it by a score of 2-1. Moyer extended his winning record to 9-4 this season, and Sasaki received his 22nd save by working out of a jam in the bottom of the ninth. Today, it was also Ichiro's 40th multiple game in this season, going 2-5, and raising his batting average to .360.

   July 11th 2002

The Mariners, with the help of the pitching of Piniero and Hasegawa, shut out the Tampa Bay Devil Rays by a score of 4-0. Ichiro started the game off with a double, and was able to score in the 1st inning by an error. He was 2 for 5 in the end, but struck-out 2 times! This game gave the M's a good beginning to the 2nd half of the season, and let's hope they can make it into the postseason.

   July 10th 2002

The All-Star Game ended with a 7-7 tie, and it was forced to be cancelled since both teams had ran out of pitchers and players. Although it was controversial, it was still a very great and entertaining match! Ichiro was 0-2 and both of them were groundouts. Freddy Garcia ended the game with a strikeout and this led to lots of boos!  Check out the article by clicking on the link below, about unfriendly fans towards Ichiro!

   July 9th 2002

The All-Star game starts today, and yesterday, it was the Home Run Derby, with Jason Giambi defeating Sammy Sosa in the finals. Check out the All-Star Game Photo Gallery for this year's photos! There's quite a few by the way! Ichiro will be starting off the game against Curt Schilling.

   July 7th 2002

After a rough night yesterday, the Mariners had a great game today, defeating the Twins by a score of 8-2. John Olerud had 2 2-run home runs, and he was definitely the hero today. Ichiro was not bad too, having a 2-hit game and raising his average back to .357. Ichiro, Sasaki and Garcia will be heading to Milwaukee for the All-Star Game, and Major League play will resume on Thursday against Tampa Bay.

     July 6th 2002

It was an unproductive night for the Mariners as they stranded 16 players in the game in the 7-2 loss to the Twins. Moyer, who was scoreless in 24 consecutive innings, gave up 3 home runs! Ichiro was 0-4 tonight, and he hasn't had a hit in this series against the Twins, and has dropped his average to .356. John Halama will be the starter for the M's tomorrow, and this game will wrap up the series, and leads to the All-Star game!

   July 5th 2002

Ichiro took a night off today, and the Mariners unfortunately lost to the Minnesota Twins by a score of 8-4. The Mariners actually had a 4-0 lead, but then in the 7th inning, the Twins got 8 runs Baldwin and Nelson. It was extremely unlucky, and hope the M's can learn from their mistakes. Tomorrow, Jaime Moyer will be pitching for the Mariners, and he will be hoping to extend his outstanding perfromance!

   July 3rd 2002

Piniero, Sasaki and the Mariners only gave up 2 hits in the final series against the Kansas City Royals, and they shut them out with a 3-0 victory today. This gives them a 4-game lead over the Anaheim Angels. However, Mike Sweeney was injured in the finger by a pitch from Pineiro, and we hope he's ok! Ichiro went 1 for 4, continuing his hitting streak! The Mariners will face the Minnesota Twins tomorrow!

   July 1st 2002

The Mariners started the second half of the season with a 7-0 victory over the KC Royals, and Moyer pitched a magnificent game, shutting out the opponents. Ichiro was 3-4 (3 singles) and regained the lead in the batting average over Mike Sweeney. Bret Boone and Edgar Martinez also hit home runs in this game. Tomorrow, rookie Soriano will be pitching for the Mariners, and he is yet to win a game. Hurray, tomorrow is also the Ichiro MVP bobblehead night!

   June 30th 2002

Congratulations to Ichiro, named to the All-Star team for the second year in a row. Joining him will be Freddy Garcia (pitcher) and Kazuhiro Sasaki from the Seattle Mariners, and they will be heading to Milwaukee for the all-star game. Be sure to check it out on TV on July 9th.

Today, the Mariner's six-game winning streak came to an end when they lost 4-3 to the Rockies. Sasaki allowed 2 earned runs in the 9th and blew his fourth save of the year! Ichiro had one hit today (3 at-bats), and is 2nd in batting average in the American League with a .359 average. Way to go, Ichiro!

   June 29th 2002

The Mariners have won 5 games in a row, and Ichiro started it off with a solo home run, his 2nd HR of the season. Everyone in the lineup had at least a hit, and it's good to see the Mariners winning again! They will finish off the series tomorrow afternoon versus the Rockies in Safeco Field. (New photos added!)

   June 28th 2002

The Mariners opened the last Interleague series by beating the Colorado Rockies by a score of 6-2. Ichiro managed to pick up a hit, and scored a couple of runs for the Mariners!  The series continues for Saturday and Sunday.
